Obituary
Mr. Joseph Allan Sandman, 70, of Calhoun, Georgia passed away peacefully with his family at his beside in Advent Redmond Hospital in Rome, GA on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
Mr. Sandman was born on December 15, 1951, in Seward, Nebraska, the son of the late Sylvester J. and Marjorie Sandman. He and his family moved to Calhoun in 1985. He was a man of many talents and was always willing to help his neighbors when they had a need. He loved and adored his family. He loved his church family and was a faithful member of Riverview Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Navy and his last assignment was with Patrol Squadron Nine and was honorably discharged in 1974. Prior to retirement, he was a welder with Universal Alloy in Canton, GA.
Survivors include his wife, Dale Elizabeth Sandman to whom he was married for 41 years; children, Jamie Volk (Doug), Brett Hart (Sonia), Traci Caldwell (William), Cheri Hunt (Micky), Sheila Sandman, Scott Sandman, Michelle Millsap, and Jeff Goasch; grandchildren, Courtney Volk, Kyle Volk, Krystina Volk, Joshua Hart, Rachael Hart, David Starks, Kady Hall (Aaron), Rebekah Caldwell, Emily Caldwell, Dillon Hunt, Hope Ripley (Michael), Faith Harpole (Garrett), Charity Guilfoyle (Tristen), Spencer Wheaton (Gennie), Skyler Wheaton, (Julie), Sam Wheaton, Harley Sandman, Creighton Millsap, Kinley Millsap, Kami Goasch, Kaylee Renay Goasch, Ty Goasch, Halen Groce, Noah Beatty; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Lincoln, Ireland, and Kinley Hart, Serenity, Zoe Hart, Magnolia, and Finley Harpole, Lillee Hunt and Saylor Wheaton; siblings, Jim Sandman (Jan), Judy Bottorf and Tina Vasquez;
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Joseph Allan Sandman will be held at 12:00 Noon, on Monday, July 18th at Riverview Baptist Church with Rev. Jamey Hunt and Rev. Josh Pilgrim officiating. Honorary pallbearers include Doug Volk, Spencer Wheaton, William Caldwell, Micky Hunt, Joshua Hart, Dillon Hunt, Scott Sandman, and Mike Watson. Interment will follow in Georgia National Cemetery on August 22, 2022, with military honors presented by the United States Navy.
