Obituary

John Ben (J.B.) Sheriff Jr., 82, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. He was born on August 6, 1940, to the late John Ben Sheriff Sr. and Deemie Bridges Sheriff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Herman Sheriff, Albert Sheriff, Ernest Sheriff, Clinton Sheriff, Eugene Sheriff, Neta Sheriff, June Welchel, Esther Farace, Anna Belle Whitfield, J.B. Sheriff, Dena Pye, J.P. Sheriff, Gordon Sheriff, Ruth Watkins, Lily Silvers, and Leona Sutherland.
Prior to retirement, J.B. was employed by the Gordon County Road Department and the Gordon County Board of transportation as a bus driver. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.
J.B. is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Tammy Sheriff; daughters and sons-in-law, April and Victor Garcia, Debbie Sheriff Whitehouse, Sheila, and James Whitfield, Regina and Mike Chamlee; sister, Marie Burchett; grandchildren, Hunter Sheriff, Haley Sheriff, Autumn Wilson, Austin Garcia, Jacob Stephens, Joshua Stephens, Allison Daughtery, Todd Vanhauten, Katlyn Vanhauten, Billy Worthington, Britney Worthington, Stephanie Worthington; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 7, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bethesda Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Bethesda Baptist Church with Pastor Wesley Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Lee Rankin, Gary Sheriff, Dennis Howard, Michael Stewart, Preston Johns, and Rodney Curtis.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Pruitt Hospice for their service and compassion.
