John W. Frix

John W. Frix, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the Atrium-Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia, on June 17th, 2023. He was 76 years old.

Born on February 17th, 1947, in Gordon County to Paul Frix and Earlene Thomas Allen. John attended Red Bud High School, then he  enlisted in the United States Marines and attained the rank of Sergeant. He served his country proudly for seven years until being honorably discharged in 1972. He was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. 

Before retirement, John spent thirty years working diligently at United Parcel Service while simultaneously contributing to his community’s safety by volunteering as a firefighter for the Gordon County Fire Department for over three decades.

John was actively involved with his family and friends outside of work. He was proud when he received his Black Belt in Karate. He had a great sense of humor and was known as a loyal friend who could always make others laugh. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and working outdoors in his yard and on the farm.

John is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Dianne Robertson Frix, son Chris Frix and his wife Rhonda; son Shane Daugherty and his wife Hannah; Ann England (sister); Marcella Johnson (sister); Marie (Ken) Morehead (sister); Reuben Allen Jr. (brother); grandchildren Drake Frix, Tigger Frix, Ella Daugherty, Harper Daugherty, Ember Daugherty. 

The family will be receiving friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home on Monday, June 19th, from 5 pm to 8 pm. The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, June 20th at 3:00 PM from Heritage Baptist Church, with Rev. Alan Miller and Rev. Ronnie Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors accorded by the United States Marine Honor Guard and Gordon County Fire Department. Pallbearers serving will include firemen from the Gordon County Fire Department.

John's faithfulness towards family and passion for life was exemplary to all who knew him while leaving enduring memories that will forever be cherished dearly by all who loved him.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Atrium-Floyd Emergency Department for their concern and care during his last hours, Heritage Baptist Church for extending to the family the use of their facility, and to everyone who called, sent cards, and prayed for him over the past several months of illness. 

The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family.

Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 3:00 PM from Heritage Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Miller and Rev. Ronnie Chandler officiating. The body will be placed in state at the church from 2:00 PM until the funeral Hour. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.
