John Daniel Cole

December 19, 1927 — June 2, 2007

Mr. John Daniel Cole, age 79, of Calhoun passed away Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Hoxie, Arkansas on December 19, 1927, son of the late John W. and Busch Fink Cole. Mr. Cole was retired from American General Life Insurance Company, and was a veteran, having served in the US Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Dorothy, Peggy and Mettie Jo; and two grandchildren; Brody Cole and Trish Osbourne.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Nerva Brown Cole; two sons and a daughter-in-law; John Cole II and his wife Terri, and a their son Haden of Silver Creek, and Larry Cole of Terra Haute, IN; three daughters and sons-in-law; Michelle Gilliam and her husband Mark, and their daughters Brittany and Megan of Calhoun, Linda Purcell and her husband Chuck of Terra Haute, IN, and Cheryl Guffy of Gallentin, IN; two brothers; Jimmy Cole of Little Rock, AR, and Mack Cole of Ocala, FL; and four other grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. John Daniel Cole will be conducted Tuesday, June 5, at 1:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Conner officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Arnold Gillman, Gene Vance, Courtney Taylor, Joey Neal, Richard Polli and Danny Polli. Honorary pallbearers will include Carl Waycaster, Mark Waycaster, Eric Husf and John Brown. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday at 12:30pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
