Obituary

Joe Berrios, 61, of Calhoun, Ga, died Friday, May 14, 2021. He was born in Manhattan, New York on August 22, 1959 to the late Carmen Montana. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, James Urbistondo and Jesus Alvin Berrios.
Joe served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked at Mohawk for many years. Joe was an avid fisherman, loved to joke, and a natural dancer, even in the grocery store. He had a soft spot for kids and would always help someone in need, if he had the means to do so.
His nickname in high school was little Franco, after Franco Harris who plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, he was always so proud of that. He played soccer baseball and did wrestling. Joe was also a speed skater at the roller rink and after high school, he helped run the skating rink. He was an excellent speed skater on wheels! He was an avid racquetball player in the military and his Squadron had a ball team he played on, in Italy, called The Receiver Site Phantoms. His nickname for that thing was a big burrito. He loved golf and tennis. He wore a crazy hat for golf and thought he was Chi-Chi Rodriguez, the famous Puerto Rican golfer. Joe loved any kind of martial arts, military, 'western / cowboy', and action movies. He and his son would spend Saturday nights watching 'shoot 'em up' movies. For the longest time, when 'A Few Good Men' came out, he would re-enact the scene with Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson, where he asked him, 'Did you order the code red?'. Joe always had a sweet tooth. When he became a truck driver, he would come home on the weekend and his son would go in his cab to see what snacks he'd burrowed away: Twinkies, honeybuns, etc. His favorite candies were wintergreen Lifesavers and Twizzlers. Any time they went to the movies he had to have a pack of Twizzlers. He also loved Taco Bell, even though it always sent him to the bathroom.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Parker Berrios; his son, Joseph (Kelsey) Berrios Jr.; his sisters, Lucy Finelli, Frances Gama, Susan Usted; grandchildren, Jacki Berrios and Charli Berrios.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Jamie Miller, Brian Walraven, Brian Ellis, Jimmy Smothers, Matt West, Chad West, Chris Harbin, and Richard Hyde.
