Mr. Jimmy "Don" McDaniel, 78, of Calhoun, Georgia departed his earthly life on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, and entered into the presence of his Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Don was born in Cartersville, Georgia on March 3, 1945, the son of the late Rayford McDaniel and Frances Ward McDaniel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a sister, Barbara McDaniel Knight and by his beloved Golden Retrievers, Jasper and Chloe. He attended Sugary Valley School and was a graduate of Calhoun High School where he excelled in basketball and loved playing recreation league softball with his many close friends. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a professional truck driver with Yellow Freight for 19 years. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and loved Dirt Track Racing going to tracks all over the United States; and he was a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include his loving wife, Wanda Davis McDaniel to whom he was married for 43 years; daughter, Miranda McDaniel; his Golden Retriever fur babies, Charlie and Zoe; a special niece, Shannon Watermolen, and her husband Tim and their daughters, Bella and Gabby who was amazing, and helped with everything during Don's illness; brothers in law and sisters in law, Pat Ratcliff, Jim (Brenda) Davis, Tammy Moss and Ted Davis; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A service to celebrate the life of Jimmy "Don" McDaniel will be held Saturday, September 30th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with military honors accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard. Pallbearers serving will include Sam Shropshire, Jerry Miller, Donald Dempsey, John Watkins, Kevin Smith, Claude Sisson, Paul Clark and Doug Estes; honorary pallbearers include Henry Fields, Sandy Bothwell, Jim Kruse, Leon Burger, Mitchell Dixon, Larry and Maggie Cox, Lena DelGenio, Claudia Umana, Larry Payne, Jim Banks and Bear Carter.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 29th between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

The family would like to give special thanks to the nursing staff at AdventHealth Redmond who cared for him in I.C.U., C.C.U., and 5th floor. The family will be forever grateful.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Don's memory to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association listed on our website.
