Jimmy Chapman, age 76, of Calhoun, GA, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Born August 14, 1948, he was the only son of Floy Mae “Pete” Foster Chapman and the late Donald Chapman. He was a 1966 graduate of Calhoun High School, where he played baseball, basketball, and football. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Before his declining health, Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, golfing, and especially working with and training quarter horses. He was a certified electrician and worked for many years with McDaniel Electric in Cartersville, GA. In his retirement, he enjoyed being a vendor of cotton candy and boiled peanuts at numerous fall festivals and rodeos.

He is survived by his mother, Floy Mae “Pete” Foster Chapman; two sons, Mitchell (Amy) Chapman and Matt (Chasity) Chapman; Grandchildren Dustin (Tiffani) Chapman, Cayla Chapman, Casey Chapman, Kaylan (Wyatt) York, Jayden Colburn, and Landon Pearson; and great-grandchildren Jordyn Chapman and Jaxon Chapman. He was looking forward to the birth of another great-granddaughter, Salem York, in March of 2025. He is also survived by his faithful companion, Regina Wyatt. 

Services to honor Jimmy will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, Calhoun, with Reverend Mitch Phillips and Reverend Brandon Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Shane Cox, Travis Queen, Randy Steeley, Mike Jackson, Jason Davis, and Jamie Davis. Honorary pallbearers include Travis Holsomback, Harry Lusk, Reagan Stone, Steve Bass, Danny Phillips, Heath Stockburger, Jeremiah Tackett and Michael Williams. 

The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family would like to thank Rhonda and all of Hearth Hospice of Rome, GA, for their loving support throughout this time. 

The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Jimmy Chapman.
