Jim Johnson

James Howard Pascal “Jim” Johnson Jr., 84, a well-known resident of Calhoun, Georgia departed this life on Monday, January 8, 2024 in AdventHealth-Redmond following a recent illness.

Jim was born in Valdosta, Georgia on June 29, 1939, the son of the late James Howard Pascal Johnson and Louise Futch Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elaine Johnson.

He grew up as a young man in Ray City, Georgia and was a graduate of Berrien County High School where he was Valedictorian of the 1957 graduating class. Later he attended Valdosta State College and met his future wife, Tanya Miley who was from Hahira, Georgia. He was a licensed Insurance broker in the State of Georgia and made his career as a salesman with Liberty National Life Insurance Company until ill health forced his retirement. He was a licensed private pilot and aircraft owner, and enjoyed flying with family and friends. He loved his family dearly and adored his grandchildren. He was active in the community and a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church, and a longtime member of the Calhoun-Gordon County Airport Authority.

Survivors include his precious wife, Tanya Miley Johnson to whom he was married for 60 years; daughter and son-in-law, Autumn and Jon Hagle; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Lisa Johnson; grandchildren, Clay Johnson, Breanna (Landon) Smith, Ashley Jones, Sarah and Austin Hagle; sisters, Jemima (Wayne) Horton and Betty (George) Baggs along with other relatives.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. James Howard Pascal “Jim” Johnson will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 6:00 PM from Calhoun First Baptist Church with Eddie Brannon and Dr. John Barber officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends between the hours or 4:00 PM and 6;00 PM.  His final resting place will be in the Johnson family lot at Beaver Dam Cemetery in Ray City, Georgia.

The family request that flowers be omitted and contributions be made in Jim’s memory to your favorite charity.
