Mr. Jim Cook Sr. age 63 of Sugar Valley, GA passed away Thursday November 16, 2006 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Cook was born in Gordon County on December 20, 1942 son of the late James Cook and the late Ruby Garman Floyd. He was retired from Astro Dye and was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by one son Jim "Jimbo" Cook Jr. and two sisters Betty Jackson and Annette Strickland.

Survivors include his wife Kathy Hathcock Cook of Sugar Valley. Two daughters and son-in-laws; Tammy and David Goforth of Resaca and Lavone and Tommy Klutz of Calhoun. Two stepsons; Michael Jarvis of Trion, GA and Matt Jarvis of Fairmount, GA. Two stepdaughters; April Phillips of Ranger, Melissa Jarvis of Sugar Valley and one son-in-law Tony Hunter of Plainville and a daughter-in-law Tina Cook of Calhoun.. Sixteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services for Mr. Jim Cook Sr. will be conducted Saturday November 18, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Marvin Broyles and Rev. Frank Bramblett officiating. Interment will follow in the Blackwood Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers serving will include Justin Goforth, Steve Phillips, Russell Mobbs, Fred Hensley, Matt Jarvis and David Goforth Jr. The family will begin receiving friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Saturday at 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m.
