Obituary

Mr. James Walter Smith, age 75 of Ellijay, GA, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2022 at the Blue Ridge Assisted Living.
Mr. Smith was born on February 6, 1947 in Whitfield County to the late Homer Woodrow Smith and Ethel Lee Fortner Smith. Mr. Smith was employed by UPS where he was a manager. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of the Welcome Gap Baptist Church in Sugar Valley. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death his five sisters, Johnnie Sellers, Joanne Smith, Charlene Smith, Judy Nix, and Nellie Smith.
Survivors include: his wife, Evealine Johnson Smith; son, James Hilton Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Chris Mucha of Sandy Springs; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Homer and Ruthie Smith and Martin and Patti Smith; one grandchild, Dayton Mucha also survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Cecil Townsley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Music will be provided by the Macedonia Baptist Church Choir.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family respectfully asks that no food and flowers be brought to the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in care of Dennis Ralston @ 117 River Lane Ellijay, GA 30536 in memory of Mr. Smith.
