Obituary

James S. Franklin, 82, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on March 10, 1940 to the late James Sanford Franklin and Margaret Alman Kight. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Jean Franklin, and daughter, Shirley Jean McArthur.
James is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Scott McGuire of Resaca, Georgia, Lisa and Richard Hagan of Gadsden, Alabama; son, Kenneth J. Franklin of Calhoun, Georgia; step-daughter, Jennifer and Jeff Kirkland of Sugar Valley; nine grandchildren, Christopher Clayton, Kirk Clayton, Bobby Coker, Brandon Coker, Bradley Coker, Zachary Whitfield, Levi Franklin, Justin Burchfield, and Tristann Jordan; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Blackstock officiating. Burial will follow in Faith and Deliverance Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Justin Burchfield, Greg Pasley, Mark Bunch, and Ricky Loveman.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of James S. Franklin.
