James Lee Holden

James Lee Holden 84, of Calhoun passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 25, 2007.

He was born in Calhoun on April 1, 1922, son of John & Claudie Mae Hyde Holden. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ralph, Henry, and Felton Holden.

Mr. Holden was a World War II Veteran, serving with the 22nd Artillery Battalion 4th Armored Division under George Patton. He was retired from Apache Mills.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara Holden; Son and Daughter in law, Terry and Gloria Holden; Four Daughters and sons in law; Pat and Kevin Phipps, Nina and David Ables, Retha and Doug Phillips, and Sharon and Joey Walraven. Twelve Grandchildren, and nephews and a niece also survive.

Funeral services for James Lee Holden will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2007 from the Meadowdale Baptist Church, with Rev. Jack Bell and Rev. Wayne Ballard officiating. Burial to follow in the Blackwood cemetery with military honors. The body will lie in state at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends Saturday between the hours of 3:00p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Clayton Whitfield, along with grandsons; Thomas Ashley Kinsey, Bradley Patterson, Cody Phillips, Jacob Phipps, Weston Walraven, D.J. Ables, and Jamie Phillips. These gentleman are requested to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.

Honorary Pallbearers are Ray Grogan, Eric Shaw, Richard & Tyler Hill, Michael & Mitchell Scott, Mont, Richard and Randy Fouts, Phillip McDaniel, and Howard Talley. These gentlemen are requested to be at Meadowdale Baptist Church at 2:45 p.m. Sunday.
