James (Jim) Clark Long, Sr. changed his address to Heaven on April 2, 2024.
Jim was a beloved husband, Daddy, Papa, Son, Brother, Uncle, and friend. He was born at Johnson Hall Clinic on January 22, 1949, to the late Hugh Johnson and Mary Tom Sutherland Long. In addition to his parents, he is joining his son James (Jamie) Clark Long, Jr., his granddaughter Camryn McLaine Pass, and siblings Pat Watkins, Donald Long, Lynn Long, Jackie Long McClure, and Ann Watkins Parks. Special cousins William and Barbara Jean Early and Debra Brock.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Holmes Long, daughters, and sons-in-law, Davina and Toby Pass, and Tara and Michael Zapp. Grandchildren Cortney Pass Penny and John David (JD), and Beth Zapp. Great-grandchildren Carson Penny, Caroline Penny, Cason Land, and Walker James Zapp; Brother Kenny Long; sister Faye Vaughn; and sister-in-law, Dancia Watkins. He is also survived by special nephews and family, Daniel, Michelle, and Caeden Holmes, his chosen daughter, Paige (Keith) Stanfield, his Adairsville family, The Martins, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Jim spent his entire life in Gordon County beginning work at the age of 11 as a dishwasher at Belmont Grill. He then worked at various gas stations and carpet mills retiring from Quality Finishers after 30 years due to declining health. Jim was a charter member or New Echota Church in Calhoun, Georgia. His family wants to express their gratitude for the loving care from the physicians and staff of U.S. Renal Care for the last 12 ½ years and Tapestry Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6th, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Ministers Keith Willard and Eddie Brannon officiating. Debbie Poarch, Carolyn Sutherland, and Dawn Pierce will arrange the music. Burial will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens with Minister Ben Maxon in charge of graveside service. Pallbearers serving include Weston Penny, Michael Mulkey, Elijah Stroup, Taylor Price, Darrel Geving, and Steven Moore. Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy and Annette Williams and members of New Echota Church.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
