Herman Bowers

November 4, 1922 — September 20, 2006

Mr. Herman Bowers age 83, of Calhoun passed away Wednesday September 20, 2006 at Floyd Medical Center. He was born in Tennessee on November 4, 1922, son of the late Emmitt and Evelyn Sue Bell Bowers. He was a retired textile worker with Shaw Industries, and was a member of the Tabernacle of Praise.

Mr. Bowers was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Bohannon Bowers; a son, Richard Bowers; a daughter Margaret Gibson; a sister, Vera Mae Morton; three brothers, Frank, Lebron, and Leonard Bowers; and a grandchild, Andrew Owens.

He is survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws; Jimmy and Johnnie Bowers, of Calhoun, Lloyd and Arlene Bowers, of Calhoun, and Charles and Renee Bowers, of Canton; a daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Chuck Owens, of Calhoun; four brothers, Carl, Berl, Arvil, and Jerry Bowers; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Bowers will be held on Friday, September 22, at 2:00pm at the Tabernacle of Praise, with Rev(s) Duane Bohannon, Derek Holbrook, and Roy Smith officiating. Music will be arranged by Brenda Bengal, Sandra Hale, and Joel Dupree. Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Glen Ellison, Scott Culberson, Gerald Culberson, David Evans, Alvin Hale, and Paul Freeman. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Thursday, between the hours of 4:00pm and 9:00pm.
