Henry Morris Phillips

USAF Master Sergeant (Ret) Henry Morris Phillips, 92, of the Red Bud Community, Calhoun, Georgia passed away at his residence Tuesday, February 13, 2024 following several months declining health.

He was born in the Nickelsville Community of Gordon County on June 12, 1931, the son of the late Deforest Phillips and Rose Holland Phillips Canada. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Sam Canada; brother, Billy Phillips; four half-sisters; two half-brothers.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he entered active duty on September 1951 and retired September 1971 after 20 years of active service with three years of his tenure being overseas. He was a graduate of Berry High School in Rome, Georgia and studied at Berry College prior to entering the Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Webster Phillips, to whom he was married for 50 years; son, Paul Sanderson (Molly); grandchildren, Nicole (Jason) Sanderson, Sabrina (Lee) McCoy, Samantha (Curtis) Hubner and Oliver (Laura) McNab; and several great-grandchildren; Ace McCoy, Scott Lumpkin, Mollie Hubner, Dawson, Liam, and Memphis Talley, Emily and Abigail McNab; sister, Constance (Milton) Stewart; brother, Kenneth (Lila) Phillips, along with nieces. Nephews and other relatives.

The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, February 15thfrom the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Chapel UMC Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the USAF Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 15thbeginning at 12: OO PM until the funeral hour of 1:00 PM.
