Henry Dale Jackson, age 64, of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Friday, October 17, at Shepherd Hill Nursing in Lafayette, GA, after an extended health battle. Dale was born on June 20, 1961, in Coleman, TX, to Carlton Jackson and Dorothy Ruth Jackson. He was a tiny baby, weighing in at just over 4lbs. And while he never grew to great height, he would laughingly remind you that his feet reached the ground and that was what was important.
Dale attended Reid State Technical College in Evergreen, AL, On August 29, 1999, he married LouAnn Darcy Linder during a Sunday School class at Meadowdale Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA.
Dale was known for his love of music. He played tuba in his High School marching band and once won a national award for his tuba solo of“Flight of the Bumble Bee." He was a long-time member of the Meadowdale choir and the Calhoun Community Chorus—even continuing to perform seated when his health made it impossible to stand with the chorus.. Dale loved puns and was known for dry humor. Although Dale faced several serious health challenges over the past several years, he always maintained a grateful attitude and his trademark quips. He also enjoyed Anime, science fiction books and movies, and trivia. He never hesitated to share a little-known fact, starting many sentences with “Actually….”. He was a faithful and committed follower of his savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, and an active member of the Meadowdale Seekers Sunday School class.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, LouAnn; sisters, Brenda and Carlene; brother James; and beloved cat, Sassy. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 28, at 2:00 pm at Meadowdale Baptist Church, 1811 Rome Rd, Calhoun, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Calhoun Community Chorus or Meadowdale Baptist Church in Dale’s memory.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Henry Dale Jackson.
