Gary 'Worm' Michael Wood

Obituary

Mr. Gary Michael "Worm" Wood, 73, of the Nickelsville community, passed from this life on Friday, December 2, 2022 after six weeks declining health.
He was born in Gordon County, Georgia on July 18, 1949, the son of the late B.W. and Pauline Greeson Wood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Denise Adcox Wood in 2002 and by a brother-in-law, Lamar Babb. He was a member of the 1967 graduating class of Red Bud High School and prior to retirement, he was employed by the City of Calhoun in Waste Water Management.
He loved his family, always supporting them in all their endeavors, cherished his many friends and loved his community.
Survivors include his companion, Marsha Carpenter Leonard; daughter, Jamie Wood Sullins and her husband Jake; son, Chad Wood; step-children, Kasey Smith and Louie Pendley; sisters, Vickie Wood Hughes and her husband Don, Linda Wood Babb; grandchildren, Hailey Sullins, Chase Wood and Grace Wood along with other relatives.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Gary Michael "Worm" Wood will be held on Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Eddie Brannon officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral Home
They ask that flowers be omitted and contributions be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association at ADAGA@diabetes.org.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family.
