Gary Phillip Henson Sr.

Gary Phillip Henson Sr., 77, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024. He was born on February 25, 1947, to the late Luther and Eva Henson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years and the mother of his five children, Joy E. Hale Henson; daughter, Amanda Henson Davenport; grandson, Colby Davenport; brother, DH Henson; sister, Willene Henson Edwards; and wife, Shirley Henson.

He is survived by his children, Patricia E. Smith, Gary Phillip (Verneva) Henson Jr., Shane (Lisa) Henson, and Nancy (John) Henson Epperson; son-in-law, Tracy Davenport; grandchildren, Jonathan (Hanna) Smith, Jarrod (Jessica) Smith, Seth Ronk, Brise (Ansley) Henson, Bella Henson, Eric (Lauren) Epperson, Kelly Brooke (Anthony Rajczak) Palacios, Chloe Palacios, Mackenzie Henson, Kodi Henson; great-grandkids, Rae Smith, Ava Smith, Jemma Kate Smith, Brooks Epperson, Avery Epperson, Gage Palacios; twin sister, Gail McStotts; nieces and nephews; cousins; step-children, Tina Fowler and Jason Fowler; step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friend son Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Willbur Ridings and Rev. Travis Childers officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Jonathan Smith, Jarrod Smith, Seth Ronk, Chuck McStotts, Brise Henson, and Eric Epperson. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Baker and Ralph Childers.
