Gary Levern Nix

Mr. Gary Levern Nix, 78 of Fairmount, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Mr. Nix was born in West Virginia on March 31, 1947. He was the son of the late Hugh G. Nix and Lucille Grace Bowman Nix. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Nicholson Nix, in 2016.

Gary graduated from Calhoun High School in 1965 and attended Shorter College until he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. He retired from the City of Calhoun Electrical Department.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Michele Nix Berrong, and her husband Jason; son, Chuck Nix, and his wife Tiffany; and grandchildren, Samantha Nix, Colton Berrong, and Gracelyn Berrong.

Funeral services for Mr. Gary Levern Nix will be held Friday, April 25th, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Crawford Greeson and Rev. Chuck Nix officiating. Burial will follow the service at Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Tim Coffey, Bobby Hoag, Colton Berrong, Jason Berrong, Drake Anderson, and Jeff DeFoor. Honorary pallbearers will be the City of Calhoun Electrical Department and Brian Anderson. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 24th, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
