Gail Ann (Smith) Waits

Gail Ann (Smith) Waits, 73, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025. She was born on June 5, 1951, to the late Samuel Smith and Annie Mae Mobbs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father on March 3, 2025, Richard Russell Mobbs.

Gail was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Sonoraville Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Pepperell High School in 1969 and later graduated from Coosa Valley Tech. She retired from Northwest Regional Hospital as a medical secretary.

Gail is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Rev. Jacky Waits; son and daughter-in-law, Jordan and Tiffany Waits; daughter and son-in-law, Leigh-Ann and Rev. Jamey Hunt; grandchildren, Noah (Tiffany) Hunt, Cooper (Lindsey) Hunt, Tyler Waits, and Jack Waits.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM from Sonoraville Baptist Church with Rev. Jamey Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The church choir will be in charge of music arrangements. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will consist of Louie McEntyre and the Deacons of Sonoraville Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at Sonoraville Baptist Church.
