Obituary

Freddie Lee Craig went home to be with the lord on Friday morning, September 2 at his residence surrounded by his immediate family. He was born on April 12, 1949 in Gordon County to Arvil and Frances Craig. Freddie is preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Margaret Ann Craig and his father, Arvil Craig.
Survivors include: mother, Frances Craig, siblings, Arvil Jr. Craig (Deborah), Cheryl Miller and Steven Craig (Deborah), son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Kellie Craig, daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Nevin Pass, grandchildren, Dustin Fox, Shane Craig, Aaron Pass, Brooke Buffum and Brice Craig, great grandchildren, Logan Buffum, C.J. Buffum and Sawyer Pass.
Freddie spent most of his life as a resident of Gordon County and about 15 years of retirement on Lake Weiss. Freddie was a well-known preacher and musician. He served as pastor of Mount Pisgah Holiness Church of Jesus Christ of Red Bud for many years and Elder for Cross Camp Cowboy Church in Rainbow City, Alabama. Freddie was the founder of Johnny J and the Shay's in the mid sixties as lead guitarist and vocals. In the 1970's he played saxophone for the Adairsville Brass. In the 80's he played with the Gospel Brass of Rome and would form Gabriel in the early 90's as a brass band later to transition to cowboy country gospel. He continued to minister through preaching and song throughout his life touching so many for Christ.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 10 at Calhoun Full Gospel Fellowship, 1927 Rome Rd. SW, Calhoun, GA. Visitation from 2pm to 4pm and a celebration of life to follow at 4pm. Bro. Chris Craig officiating.
