Franklin 'Frank' David Hall

Obituary

Frank Hall, age 89 of Calhoun passed away peacefully on January 22, 2023. He was born on April 7, 1933, in Chatsworth, GA to the late Earon Chester "Chess" Hall and Emma (Wagnon) Hall. Frank was married to Sandra McAfee Hall for 61 years. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ray and Morris Hall as well as three sisters, Gladys Thomas, Luella Rogers, and Syble Smith.
Frank was a long-time high school math teacher and girls basketball coach, primarily at Fairmount High School from 1972 until its closure. He served over 26 years in the Army National Guard. He stayed busy in his "retirement", working first at Wal-mart putting together bicycles and lending a hand where needed, and he later returned to teaching math at Georgia Northwestern Technical College for many years.
Frank was a life-long resident of Gordon County and a graduate of Red Bud High School. He had a deep appreciation of the communities and families of Gordon County and worked to preserve part of their history by serving on the board of directors of the Calhoun-Gordon County Sports Hall of Fame. Frank and Sandra were members of Belmont Baptist Church.
Frank loved visiting with family and friends and reading to his grandchildren. His pastimes included traveling around North Georgia to favorite eating spots and fishing holes, training his bird dogs and hunting quail, watching sports and going to ball games. He enjoyed puzzles and did crosswords and scratch-offs daily.
He is survived by his three sons, David (Cassie) Hall, Stacy Hall, and Chad (Sharon) Hall; granddaughters Marla Hall, Mayla (Rhett) Jackson, Maci Beaver, and Kayla Ponders; grandsons Blane (Shannon) Beaver, Chance (Carson) Beaver, and Nathan Hall, and great grandson Emmett Jackson. Several nieces and nephews survive.
Franks visitation will take place on Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Belmont Baptist Church with funeral services following at 2:00pm. Frank will be laid to rest at Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers include Kelly Seabolt, Hal Smith, Barry Smith, Bobby McFry, James Clark, Rhett Jackson, Barry Walraven, and Brent Walraven. Honorary pallbearers include Belmont Baptist Sportsmen Sunday School Class and all former players and coaches.
