Floyd Stancill

Mr. Floyd Stancill, age 87 of Calhoun, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Gordon Health Care following several months of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on October 30, 1923, son of the late Clifford and Minnie Hudgens Stancill. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Rickett Stancill in 2010; a brother, Doyle Stancill of Calhoun; three sisters, Jewell Thompson of Dalton, Geneva Quarells of Dalton, and Christian Patterson of Calhoun; and a sister-in-law, Evanee Hendrix

Mr. Stancill was retired as owner of Stancill Motors of Calhoun. He was a member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church in Dalton.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and David Queen of Maryville, TN; a sister, Dorthy Nilo of Marietta, GA; grandsons, Jason Queen and Justin Queen; two brothers-in-law, Norman Patterson and J.B. Rickett, both of Calhoun; and sisters-in-law, Hilda Chadwick and her husband Charlie, and Jonnie Erwin and her husband Terry, all of Calhoun. Several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Roxanne Clark, also survive.

The family would like to thank Judy Smith, P.A. and the staff of Gordon Health Care for their special care of Mr. Stancill.

Funeral services for Mr. Floyd Stancill will be held Saturday, July 2nd at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Jack Cole and Rev. Matt Futch officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery near Sonoraville. Active pallbearers will include Jason Queen, Justin Queen, Charlie Chadwick, Joseph Chadwick, Tim Frix, and Jonathon Purser. Music will be arranged by Susan Frix.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
