Florence Keener

August 20, 1918 — March 4, 2007

Mrs. Florence Keener, of the Taylortown, Pleasant Hill Community died March 4th, 2007 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Pickens County, August 20th, 1918, daughter of Virgil and Ida Pierce. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Jack Keener, in 1990.

Survivors include three daughters; Hazel and her husband Jack Thornbrough, Mildred and her husband Wayne Long, and Elaine Keener; one son; Jackie Keener; five grandchildren; Pam Seabolt, Valerie Allen, Vanessa McCormick, Brian Long, and Selena Cooper. Nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandson also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Keener will be conducted Tuesday, March 6th, 2007, at 2:00pm, from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Barry Brock, Rev. Winfred Casey, and Rev. Lamar Bearden officiating. Rev. Eddie Brannon will be in charge of the graveside service. Music will be arranged by Grace and The New Town Quartet. Interment will follow in the family plot at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Larry Keener, Max Mulkey, Roy Pierce, Herschel Pierce, David Bryant, and Jimmy Green. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:15pm. Honorary pallbearers will include Juddie Campbell, Jason Ponders, Blanton Hendrix, Coy Long, Johnny Long, and Wayne McIntosh. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Monday evening after 5:00 p.m.
