Evelyn Marie Gravitt

Evelyn Marie (Ward) Gravitt, 79, passed from this life on June 8, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family in Sugar Valley, Georgia. She was born on May 4, 1944, to the late, Doris Evelyn (Irwin) Ward and Leslie Alvin Ward of Hickory Valley, Tennessee.

Evelyn was raised in Hardeman County, Tennessee and attended Saulsbury and Grand Junction Schools. She was married to the late Larry Gravitt for 51 years. They made their home in Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia. She enjoyed country music, Elvis, and dancing. She loved to spend time with her children, grands, and great-grands, along with other family members. She also liked cooking and quilting.

She is survived by three children, Lisa Dawn Fitts of Sugar Valley, Georgia, Dana Loyde Gravitt (Andrea) of Calhoun, Georgia, and Erica Lott (Virgil) of Ranger, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Jenny and Drew Fitts, Lasha Proper (Steven), Adam Gravitt (Stephanie), Nelson Gravitt, Easton and Tanner Ray, Tyler and Jada Whitfield; four great-grandchildren, Ally and Boyd Proper, Bella and Benji Gravitt; three sisters, Ann Bell of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Rachel Bainter of Springfield, Oregon, and Susie Harvell of Millington, Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Gravitt; four brothers, Skip and Butch Ward, Ray and David Leslie; sister, Charlotte Ward; parents, Doris Leslie and Leslie Ward; son-in-law, Phillip Fitts, and nephew, Jeffery Avent.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow the visitation on Saturday at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Garry Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Easton Ray, Tanner Ray, Adam Gravitt, Nelson Gravitt, Steven Proper, and Tyler Whitfield.
