Ernest Wilson

Mr. Ernest B. Wilson, 78 of Resaca, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at his home with his family by his side, following an extended illness. He was born in Dalton on November 21, 1938, son of the late Leonard and Deila Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Edna Marie Taylor Wilson, in 2002; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Edna Taylor; two sisters, and four brothers-in-law.
Mr. Wilson was a long-time member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church, where he proudly sang in the choir. He lived in the Fidelle Community, where he and his wife raised their family, for 50 years.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Tina Wilson, and Dawn and Stacey Garlin, all of Resaca; his son, Aaron Wilson of Chattanooga, TN; and grandchildren, Henry Garrett Hammonds of Resaca, Eaan Patrick Wilson of Varnell, Joshua Daniel Garlin, and Sarah Danielle Garlin of Dews Pond.
Services to honor the life of Mr. Ernest B. Wilson will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Gibson and Rev. Dino Bishop will officiate. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will include Donald Thomas, Garrett Hammonds, Ken Johnson, Samuel Allen, Allen Sosebee, and Danny Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Eaan Wilson, Jack Bannister, Billy Henson, Ashton Stanley, Marvin Cagle, Rodney McElrath, Randy McElrath, Steve Johnson, Nick Johnson, Jeff Faucett, Billy Faucett, Jason Wilson, David Allen, Jamie Wilson, and Shannon Leonard.
The Wilson family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday and Wednesday from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m.
