Emory Parker

January 4, 1927 — September 29, 2006

Mr. Emory Parker, age 79 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, September 29, 2006, following several months of declining health. Mr. Parker was born in Gordon County on January 4, 1927, son of the late Taylor P. Parker and the late Dovie Dover Parker. He was the retired owner of Parker's Grocery, was a veteran of the United States Army having served as a Military Policeman in the 50th Police Battalion,having been granted the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Phillipines Independence Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal, and later served with the United States Maritime Service as a Merchant Marine. He was of the Christian Faith.

Survivors include four sons; Bruce Parker and his wife Kelly; Brian Parker, Brent Parker and his wife Shayne; and Mike Parker; two daughters; Debbie Seabolt and her husband Randy; and Jan Hammond and her husband Kenny, all of Calhoun; the mother of his children, Juanita Parker Ray; two sisters; Lois Vrhel and Doris Duncan, both of Calhoun. A special niece, Betty Davis of Chattanooga, ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Parker will be conducted at 2:00pm on Sunday, October 1, 2006, at the Meadowdale Baptist Church, with Dr. Steven Pearson and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will include employees of Calhoun Health Care. They are asked to meet at the church at 1:45pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday after 4:00pm. At the family's request, flowers are to be omitted, and contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Family owned and operated Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of conducting the funeral arrangements of Mr. Emory Parker of Calhoun.
