Obituary

Emily Elizabeth Campbell Thompson, 92, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022. She was born on June 5, 1930, in Calhoun, Georgia, to the late Etta and Stanley Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Odessa Nelson; brothers, J.M., C.L., Fred, and Frank Campbell; daughter, Nancy Elizabeth (Beth) Paris; grandson, Brian Goss.
Emily worked for the Gordon County Sheriffs Office for over 20 years as a dispatcher. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Most people called her Nana. She gave hugs and love to everyone she met. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Johnnie Mack Thompson; her daughter, Peggy Thompson Goss (Larry); son, Johnnie Thompson; sister, Christine Wallace; 5 grandchildren, Jamie Goss Fisher (Dustin), Corey Goss (Suzanne), Jonathon Thompson (Misty), Tanna Johnson (Jacob), and Noah Paris (Zelda); 11 great-grandchildren, Madison, Justin, Presley, Kara, Peyton, Rylan, Landen, Ean, Remi, Zoey, and Ryder.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 12 Noon until 2:30 pm at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 3:00 pm from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Peeler officiating. Burial will follow in Campbell Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons and grandsons-in-law Jonathan Thompson, Noah Paris, Jacob Johnson, Corey Goss, Landen Goss, and Dustin Fisher. Honorary pallbearers will be the gentlemen of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in her memory.
