In Loving Memory of Emilie Stone

It is with heavy hearts, but a lifetime of wonderful memories, that we announce the passing of our Aunt Emilie Stone, who passed away on October 12, 2026, at the age of 86.

If you knew Emilie, you knew she was one of a kind! She was a firecracker, to say the least! Feisty, independent, strong-willed, and never one to sugarcoat a thing. She had a mind of her own, wasn’t afraid to speak it, and you never had to wonder what she was thinking. But underneath all that sass was a woman who loved the only way she knew how and lived life exactly the way she wanted.

Emilie spent many years as a dedicated teacher before retiring. She had a love for the simple things in life. She enjoyed quilting, reading a good book, and spending time outside working in her flower beds. She took pride in her yard and loved watching her flowers bloom. And of course, there was her beloved dog, Abby, who held a very special place in her heart.

One of her favorite pastimes was playing bingo with her nieces, Monica & Charma. There was always laughter, a little friendly competition, and probably a little sass thrown in for good measure! Those are the moments we will hold close to our hearts forever.

Emilie was preceded in death by her brothers, Kerry Wheeler, David Wheeler, Larry Wheeler and nephew Scott Wheeler.

She is survived by her brothers, Kenneth Wheeler and Grover Wheeler; her nieces and nephews, Janet, Kenny, Tammy, Danny, Dorri, Steve, David, Monica, and Charma; along with extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Emilie wasn’t one for a lot of fuss, and she certainly didn’t need anyone telling her what to do! She was tough, determined, and marched to the beat of her own drum. She leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and memories that will be shared for generations.

In keeping with Emilie’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral or service at this time. Her family is honoring her request and may choose to hold a celebration of life at a later date. If arrangements are made, family and friends will be notified.

Emilie also had one very special wish—that the quilts she lovingly made over the years be passed along to those who she loved and adored. Each quilt represents hours of her time, patience, and love. What a beautiful way for a little piece of Emilie to live on in the homes and hearts of those who knew her. Her family will honor this wish so that her beautiful handiwork can continue to bring warmth and comfort for years to come.

While our hearts are sad, we find comfort in knowing that she lived a long life filled with the things she loved. We will miss her quick wit, her stubborn streak, her feisty personality, and most of all, simply having her here with us.

Rest easy, Aunt Emilie. Heaven gained one little firecracker, and we can only imagine you’re already keeping everybody on their toes up there!

You were loved, you will be missed, and you will never be forgotten.

The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Emilie Ann Stone.
