Elizabeth Clark Gillespie, 96, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025. She was born in Calhoun, Georgia, on May 10, 1929, to the late Roy Clark and Katie Blanche Clark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Frank Joseph Gillespie; daughter, Karen Roberts; brother, Roy Clark, Jr., sisters, Frances McAfee, Sybil Hollaran; brother-in-law, Kenneth Tindall.
Elizabeth worked as an assistant for Wellco Carpet and later worked at Mable’s Place and Nina’s Flowers, but her favorite job was taking care of her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the Braves and fishing. She took great pride in raising her granddaughter, Cassie Ferguson, after Karen passed.
She is survived by her son, Ed (Maureen) Gillespie; sister, Tommie Tindall; grandchildren, Cassie (Brad) Ferguson, Erin (Josh) Jamison, Alden Gillespie, Lily Gillespie; great-grandchildren, Trent, Abigail, Amelia Ferguson, Eliza Jamison; special great-niece, Caty McAfee; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Jason Hawkins and Trent Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Brad Ferguson, Trent Ferguson, Clyde Pullen, Kenneth Hollaran, Josh Jamison, and Tommy Hoblitzell. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Seabolt, Jesse Vaughn, and Dan Cochran.
