Mrs. Effie Kay McDearis, age 90 of Calhoun, Georgia; past away Saturday, October 28, 2006 at Calhoun Health Care Center following declining health.

Mrs. McDearis was born on November 10, 1915 in Gordon County; daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Kay and Austra Duncan Kay. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Auburn Chester McDearis and by sisters; Battie Sutton, Bertha Dutton, Lois Pendley, Jessie Parker, Carabelle Stephens, Clara Proctor, Ruby Colston, Frances Smith and by brothers; Arthur Kay and C.M. Kay. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. McDearis is survived by one daughter; Joyce James of Calhoun, Georgia. One sister; Mattie Pilcher of Fairmount, Georgia. Five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Kay McDearis will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church near Sonoraville with Rev. Jimmie Timms and Rev. Tim Erwin officiating. Singing will be arranged by James Satterfield and Betty Fair. Active pallbearers serving will include; Justin Childerss, Chris Bearden, Cody Erwin, Blake Dodd, Brandon Bearden, Josh James, Heath Bearden and Ryan Pate. Honorary escort will be the staff of Calhoun Health Care Center. Burial will follow the service in the Bethlehem Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Sunday evening during the hours of 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Please express online condolences at www.maxbrannonandsons.com
