Obituary

Mr. Edward "Jim" Reece, 88, a well-known resident of Sugar Valley, Georgia went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 18, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Reece was born in Adairsville, Georgia on September 29, 1933, son of the late Horace and Ruby Reece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Edna Stamey Reece; two brothers, Tony Reece, Marvin Reece, and his wife Fannie Bell; two brothers-in-law, Hugh Cooper and Ernest Hazelwood. Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He and his late wife, Edna Stamey Reece owned and operated Reeces Store in Sugar Valley for 33 plus years; he was a member of the Sugar Valley Masonic Lodge and had received his 50-year pin and was a member of Sugar Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons, Michael Reece and his wife Alice, Tony Reece and his wife Gail; two sisters, Gwen Cooper and Betty Hazelwood; grandchildren, Cassie, Mike, Jimmy, T.W. and C.J.; great-grandchildren, Alaina, Lauren, Mallie, Jessa, Addy, Lane, Tobi, and Ellis.
A service to celebrate the life of Edward "Jim" Reece will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at 6:00 PM from Sugar Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends at Sugar Valley Baptist Church on Tuesday, beginning at 4:00 PM.
Pallbearers serving will include, Donnie Reece, Gerald Reece, T.W. Reece, Wade Floyd, Ricky Smith, and Colin Nichols; honorary pallbearers will include, Bobby Brown, Lane Reece, Jacques Hall, Sherman Hall, Kevin Holsomback, and Keith VanDyke.
A private burial will follow on Wednesday, March 23rd at Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Mr. Edward "Jim" Reece, 88 of Sugar Valley.
