Obituary

Mr. Ebbie Mac Carney, 85, of Calhoun, passed away Thursday morning, January 13, 2022 at his residence following several months declining health.
Mr. Carney was born May 26, 1936 in the Sonoraville Community of Gordon County, the son of the late Reid P. Carney and Estelle Gilbert Carney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Patty Carney; two brothers, Zebbie Carney and Buster Carney.
He was employed in the carpet industry most of his working career and was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Calhoun Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Weir Carney to whom he was married for 63 years; daughter, Renee Carney Horton and her husband Reed; grandchildren, Zachary (Jessy) Horton, Josh (Meagan) Horton, Saige Horton; great-grandson, Bentley Reed Horton.
Funeral services for Mr. Ebbie Mac Carney will be conducted Saturday, January 15th at 2:00 PM from the Calhoun Community Church with Pastor Jerry Rice and Pastor Tim Reid officiating. Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will include, Randall Fox, Ryan Swably, Bill Mumpower, Tim Jones, Arvil Craig Jr. and Norm McCarren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 15th from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at Calhoun Community Church.
