Obituary

Mr. Douglas Parker, 70, of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021, at AdventHealth Gordon.
Douglas was born in Calhoun, Georgia on May 16, 1951, son of the late Charles Aron Parker and Leah Cloe Teems Parker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Parker Boyd and Nellie Faye Parker.
Prior to retirement, he was a long-time employee of Price Floor Covering and was a classic car enthusiast having owned several different models throughout his lifetime, loved his family dearly, and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Deborah Shope Parker; daughter, Autumn Parker Lester and her husband Joey; grandchildren, Katlyn Maleah Lester and Parker Joel Lester; sister, Joyce Colston; brothers, Charles Parker and his wife Betty and Kenneth Parker and his wife Kathy; brother-in-law, J.R Boyd; nieces, nephews, cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 31st at 4:00 PM from Meadowdale Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 31st between the hours of 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM at Meadowdale Baptist Church.
Pallbearers serving will include Joey Lester, Parker Lester, Greg Kirby, Andy Arnold, Chris Sherwood, and Dante Morton. Honorary pallbearers serving will include "His Girls", Bill Price, Alan (Bunk) Price, J.R. Boyd, Gary Lewis, Keith Puckett, Danny Hartline, and Rickey Stone.
The family asks that flowers be omitted and contributions be made in Douglass memory to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, The Liver Foundation Liverfoundation.org, or the American Cancer Society of Dalton, 300 West Emory Street, Dalton, Georgia 30720.
