Obituary

Mr. Douglas M. Gilbert, 80, of Ranger, Georgia, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday morning at his residence following a courageous battle with Parkinsons Disease.
Douglas was born in Whitfield County in the West Nance Spring Road Community on August 8, 1942, the son of the late Willie and Emma Brannon Gilbert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Greeson Gilbert, to whom he was married 51 years; sisters, Virginia Gilbert and Mary Faye Gilbert Gallman and her husband Clarence; and by a grandchild, Kinsley Jackson Gilbert.
Before retirement, he was employed by JRC Trucking as a driver and always enjoyed auto body repair and was known as a perfectionist when it came to painting. He was a member of the 1960 graduating class of Fairmount High School and was a Christian and faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church near Ranger.
Survivors include his sons, Zevan Gilbert and his wife Stephanie, Phillip Gilbert, and Mark Gilbert; grandchildren, Jaron Gilbert and his wife Victoria, C.J. Gilbert and his wife Baylee and Shianne Gilbert; great-grandchild, Jackson Gilbert; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 10th at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim East and Junior Craig officiating. Terry Collis and Marisa Johnson will arrange the music. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers serving will include John Lewis, Richard Greeson, Jeremy Collis, Nathan Wyatt, Jaron Gilbert, C.J. Gilbert, Bryant White, and Lou White. Honorary pallbearers include Jackie Keener, Earnest Blaylock, Manuel Gilbert, Billy Gallman, Glenn Blalock, Jan Greeson, and Kenneth Greeson.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 9th between the hours of 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
The family would especially like to thank Homespun Hospice for their care and support.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the Gilbert family.
