Willard Donnie Steely

Mr. Willard Donnie Steely, 87, of the Red Bud Community, departed this life peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Steely was born in Corbin, Kentucky, on August 4, 1937, the son of the late Malcolm and Mable Williams Steely. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Wilson, and his son, Donnie Steely; one sister, Carolyn Moore; and one brother, Truman Steely.

He was a retired truck driver and farmer who enjoyed raising cattle and tending to his chickens, his donkey, Walter, and all the other barnyard animals. He also enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and watching his grandson “Solo” in all his ventures. He was a Christian and a member of Salacoa Baptist Church near Red Bud.

Survivors include his children, Donna Steely, Tony Steely, Ricky Steely, and Jan Hewitt; grandchildren Solomon Nilsen, Steven Steely, Jordan Steely, Chelsea Bixby, Taylor Martin, Ann Marie Davis, Hunter Hewitt, and Stephanie Hewitt;; several great-grandchildren; and his best friend, Jack Rayburn.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25th, at Haven of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
