Obituary

Delma Causby Ray, 87, of Resaca, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 28, 2022. She was born in Knox County, TN, to the late Manuel and Willie Belle Mealor Causby, on May 3, 1935, but spent most of her life in Resaca, GA. The last eleven years, however, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Owens Cross Roads, AL just outside of Huntsville. Delma was a member of the Free Holiness Church for over 31 years.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jack Ray, her son, Stanley Ray, sisters, Mildred Jackson, Coleen Wilson, Faynelle Adams, Hilda Davis, and Tinnie Causby, brothers, J.D. Causby and Bobby Causby.
After working for many years in the carpet industry, she and her husband, Jack, puchased Resaca Grocery in the early 1980's, which they ran until his death in 1997. They both always enjoyed 'the store' and all the people they got to know and love. In her later years, the highlights of her life were her 16 great-grandchildren! She always 'came to life' whenever they came around!
Delma is survived by her daughter, Jackie Sadler and her husband, Darrell of Owens Cross Roads, AL, daughter-in-law, Charlotte Barron, five grandsons, Stephen Sadler, Jonathan (Jerrica) Sadler, Christopher (Holly) Sadler, Jason (Alex) Ray, and Tyler (Briana) Ray, 16 precious and very much loved great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Shelba Causby, brother, Gilbert Causby and three sisters, Brenda Long, Karen (Eddie)Kirby, Darlene Herndon and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation in Alabama will be on Tuesday evening, May 31, 2022 from 5 until 6:30pm at Big Cove Holiness Church in Owens Cross Roads, AL, with a Memorial service following at 6:30 CDT, with Brother Mark Warren and Brother Josh Trotman officiating. Visitation in Calhoun, GA will be on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 12 until 3pm at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with the funeral service following at 3pm EDT, with Brother Edward Atchley and Brother Mark Warren officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, beside her loving husband, in Resaca. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Stephen Sadler, Jonathan Sadler, Christopher Sadler, Jason Ray, Tyler Ray and nephews, Johnny Jackson and Shane Causby.
We would also like to add a special note of thanks and love to the staff of Hospice Family Care, Lisa, Leslie and Rhonda, for their sweet, loving care they gave to our precious Mama and Memaw during the past few weeks.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Delma Causby Ray
