Obituary

Mr. Darl Elmo "Mo" Bates, 60, of Calhoun, Georgia passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022, after several years of declining health.
Darl was born in Cleveland, OH., on January 11, 1962, the son of Shelby Bates Dillard and the late Harry Jack Bates who passed away in 1971. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Suzanne Bates who passed away in 2013; his brother, Shawn Bates who passed away in 1986, and his step-father, Gene Dillard who passed away in 2007. He was a member of St Clements Catholic Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp having attained the Rank of Corporal. Prior to declining health, he was employed with ICT and was a chemical operator.
He is survived by his wife, Judith S. Bates to whom he was married for 40 years; two sons, Darren Bates and his wife Shelly and Derek Bates; four brothers, Wade Bates, William Bates, Jack Bates, and Art Bates; three grandchildren, Dominic, Danica, and Lucas; mother, Shelby Bates Dillard. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
At Darls request, all services will be private. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery.
