Obituary

Crystal Caitlynn Powell, 31, of Covington, was taken too soon on Saturday, April 16, 2022. She was born in Conyers, GA to Bobby Powell and Shanna Powell. Crystal was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim Elwer, Linda Powell, Jack Powell and Roger Hilty.

She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and a good friend to many. Crystal graduated from Eastside High School and furthered her education with a Masters Degree from Walden University. She was a teacher with the Newton County Board of Education. Crystal liked Braves baseball and enjoyed baking, shopping and loved spending time with her children and family. She was greatly loved by everyone and will be deeply missed.

Her memories will be cherished by her father, Bobby Powell; mother, Shanna Powell; children, Korbin Hyatt, Olivia Hyatt, Bryson Hyatt, and Nala Grace; Crystals boyfriend Chris Roach and his son Dezi; sisters, Lacy Powell (Josh), McKenzie Powell; nephew, Lane Powell; grandmothers, Barbara Dawson, Debbie Hilty; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Gary Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Garden of Memory in Decatur. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday. April 22, 2022 from 6:00 pm 8:00 pm.
