Chester Clayton Talley

Mr. Chester Clayton Talley, 78, of Tunnell Hill, Georgia, formerly born and raised in Sugar Valley, Georgia departed this life on Friday, April 5, 2024 at his residence following a period of declining health.

Mr. Talley was born in Whitfield County, Georgia, on October 20, 1945, the son of the late Chester Lee Talley and Maude Massingill Talley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Magdeline Talley; five sisters, Ruby Whaley, Brenda, Linda, Thelma, and Shirley Talley; and brothers, Haward Talley and Vernon Talley. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in Vietnam. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a truck driver for TRCC Transport and was a member of Ringgold Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Doris E. Talley, to whom he was married for 44 ½ years; sons Adam Talley of Tunnell Hill, GA., Joseph and Katie Talley of Ringgold, GA.; granddaughter Lydia Talley of Ringgold, GA.; sisters Gwen Harris of Resaca, GA., and Geneva Klotz and her husband Don of Resaca, GA.; brother Kenneth Talley and his wife Sandi of Calhoun, GA. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Chester Clayton Talley will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with minister Mike Gurganus officiating. Mr. Jim Wright will arrange the singing. Burial will follow in Sugar Valley Church of God Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Pallbearers serving will include Randall Talley, Kevin Talley, Wally Talley, Gabe Talley, Jimmy Faulkenberry, and Tom Pickle.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 8th, between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home.
