Charles Wayne "Herk" Childers, age 31 of Jasper, GA passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009. He was born in Whitfield County on May 29, 1978, son of Charles and Tammy Allen Childers, and was self-employed in the construction industry.

"Herk" was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher Joseph Childers in September 2009, and grandparents, Hilburn Childers, Wayne Allen, and Virginia Sewell.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, Charles and Sherrie Childers of Calhoun; his mother and step-father, Tammy Allen Hall and Richie of Dalton; two daughters, Breanna D. Childers Padgett and Chrissie M. Childers; a brother, Timothy Chad Childers of Calhoun; a sister, Tonnie Lynn Childers of Calhoun; and grandparents, Jessie Sewell, Mozelle Childers, and Joanna Allen. Aunts, uncles, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Charles Wayne "Herk" Childers will be conducted Saturday, November 21 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Bob Oesterle, Rev. Travis Childers, and Rev. Lloyd Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in the West Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Steven Sewell, Bryan Dobson, Jerry Lee Childers, Rossie Thomas, Mat Hillhouse, Steven Greenway, and Brandon Sewell. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 1:15pm. Uncles will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday after 5:00pm.
