Obituary

Charles S. Burton, 86, of Ranger, Georgia passed away Friday, September 23, 2022, after a few months of declining health. He was born on January 9, 1936, in Gordon County to the late Harvey and Nina Lucile Shope Burton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Jean Timms Burton; daughter, Karen D. Millsap; brothers, Lewis Burton, Tom Burton, and Edward Burton; sisters, Edna Terry, Ilene Goble, Jewel Thacker, and Lois Goble.
Charles was a caregiver to his loving wife for 16 years. He was a restaurant owner, home builder and a pastor of two churches in South Georgia.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Charles A. and Lara K. Burton; grandchildren, Shanna (Mark) Greeson and Patricia (Dustan) Shugart; great grandchildren, Rebekah Greeson and Evelyn Greeson, Aurora Shugart, Leilana Shugart, Phoenix Shugart, and Silas Shugart.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be conducted Monday, September 26, 2022 at 3:00 pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Jones and Rev. Randy Bunch officiating. Burial will follow beside his wife in Chandler cemetery. Pallbearers are, Larry Thacker, Terry Goble, Garry Goble, Randy Hall, Eric Hall, and Jason Timms.
