Obituary

Mr. Charles Lee Bray age 78, of Fairmount Ga. Formerly of Calhoun / Bartow Ga passed away on Wednesday, October 5th, 2022 at Advent Gordon Hospital in Calhoun, Ga. Charles was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, uncle, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Charles had a tremendous love for his Lord and Savior and loved his family and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles was a member of the Assembly Of Faith Church of Dews Pond. The pastor was the late Alvin Suggs.
Charles worked in the construction/maintenance industry most of his life. Charles worked at Frenchs Grocery and Poultry Farm for several years before retiring. Charles loved his community and enjoyed meeting new people. Charles only went to the 5th grade where he had to quit to work the cotton fields to help support the family. Charles was an avid knife thrower as a young man and enjoyed playing the Mandolin and guitar with his brothers and grandchildren throughout his life.
Charles is proceeded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Barbara Ann (Hayes) Bray just 25 days after her passing and his son Charles Jeffery Bray Sr. of Calhoun, Ga. His parents were Lawrence and Bertha (Dean) Bray Lanham. Brothers, Eulon (Frances) Bray, Ralph (Linda) Bray, Daniel (Robin) Bray, and Bobby (Martha) Lanham all of Calhoun Ga.
Charles is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Dana Bray, and Tony and Sharon Bray. daughter: Lori Bray. Daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Kevin Pruitt. Grandchildren: Charles (Stephanie) Bray Jr., Drake (Hannah) Bray, Jeremy (Jasmine) Bray, Brandi (Anthony) Dutton, April Herndon (Blake), Cody Herndon, Holly (Joseph) Land, Rebecca Bray (Blake), Savannah Bray (Shane), Levi (Nicole) Thompson, Austin Bray, Nicole (Dawson) Flowers, Laynie Nix, Bo (Danyelle) Pruitt, Steven Pruitt, Brittany (Shane) Gurley, 31 great-grandchildren: brothers Bobby (Sherri) Bray, Joe (Sandra) Lanham, Ed (Joyce) Lanham: sister Ollie Gravley.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will follow the visitation at 3:00 pm from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons with Rev. Shane Swift officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers are C.J., Drake, Jeremy and Austin Bray, Levi Thompson, and Cody Hurndon.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Charles Lee Bray.
