Obituary

Mrs. Carolyn Ruth "Dooley" Carter, 80, of Resaca, Georgia, passed away at her residence following several months of declining health.
Mrs. Carter was born in Gordon County, Georgia on September 9, 1941, the daughter of the late Willis E Dooley and Mary Ruth Bowman Dooley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Carter. two sons, Shane Carter and Scott Carter, and two brothers, Charles Dooley and Jack Bowman.
Carolyn was a loving mother to her three boys and adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, holidays, the simple thing in life, and spending time with her family. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Gordon Hospital as a Radiology Technician and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Patti Choate; grandchildren, Colby Carter, Laura Faye Carter, Halie Christian (Josh), Sara Choate, Kevin Choate Jr, Hannah Carter, Melia Carter, Olivia Carter; great-grandchildren, Bryson Carter, BreiLynn Carter, Kinsley Choate, Caedyn Branch and Izaiah Branch; Brother, Harold Dooley and his wife Ann, niece, Shawna Dooley; special friend, Dennis Griffin and other relatives.
Funeral services for Carolyn Ruth Carter will be held Sunday, July 31st at 2:00 PM from Eastgate Baptist Church with Rev. Stacy Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery on Hall Memorial Road.
Pallbearers serving include, Bill Talley, Brian Ruddell, Jeff Duvall, Kevin Choate Jr., Colby Carter, and Mike Stamey. Honorary pallbearers serving will include Joey Baker and Bryson Carter.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 30th between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at the funeral home and her body will be placed in state at the church, Sunday at 1:00 PM to lie in state one hour prior to the service.
