Mr. William Calvin "Hat man" Hazelwood, age 92 of Plainville, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at his residence following two years of declining health.
He was born on January 15, 1919 in Bartow County, son of the late Mose and Sally Chapman Hazelwood. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Hattie Edwards, and two brothers, Dewey Hazelwood and Zeke Hazelwood. He had been employed with Trend Mills and was a member of the Plainville Church of God of Prophecy.
Mr. Hazelwood is survived by his wife, Inez Collins Hazelwood, to whom he was married for 67 years; two daughters, Joann Bohannon and her husband Gene, and Louise Stanley and her husband Bennie, all of Plainville; a son, Leroy Hazelwood of Plainville; three grandchildren, Kyle Bohannon, Travis Bohannon and Curtis Stanley; five great-grandchildren, Jakob Bohannon, Cody Bohannon, Catlin Bohannon, Julia Stanley and Dylan Stanley; and three step great- grandchildren, Trey Logan, Wesley Burges and Gracie Steele. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Calvin Hazelwood will be conducted Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Keith Reid and Rev. Ronnie Wells officiating. Active pallbearers will include Frank Moorehead, Kyle Bohannon, Travis Bohannon, Kenneth Collins, Curtis Stanley and Michael Hazelwood. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Prater, Freeman Langley, Bill Langley, Ophelia Langley and Jean Searcy. Interment will follow the service in the Scott Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
