Obituary

Mrs. Bonnie Whitfield Ross, 85 of Calhoun, went to be with her Lord on April 21, 2021 at Hamilton Medical Center following a few years of declining health.
Mrs. Ross was born in Calhoun, Georgia on October 28, 1935, daughter of the late Loyd and Nellie Bearden Whitfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Randy and a brother, Rev. Leroy Whitfield.
Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she cherished her many friends. She was a member of the 1953 graduating class of Red Bud High School, a member of the Red Bud ladies trio which won state finals, played softball for the lady Cardinals and sang with the Singing Whitfields. She was also president of the FHA and 4-H, was voted Farm Bureau Queen and Miss Red Bud 1951, and Most Popular and Most Attractive. Prior to retirement she was employed as a bookkeeper for Dobson Implements and was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Ross to whom she married on May 7, 1961; son, Chan Ross; granddaughter, Meredith Johnson and her husband Swayze; her grandson, Thomas Ross; great granddaughter, Etta Grey Johnson; Special nieces, Greta Vandyke and Teresa Gallman; sisters-in-law, Ann Whitfield, Wilma (F.A.) Hale, Martha Thomas, Rachael Copeland, Mary Lacy and Wynonna Ross; nieces, nephews and her fur baby Sassi.
A service to celebrate the life of Bonnie Whitfield Ross will be held Sunday, April 25th at 3:00 PM from Belmont Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Rev. Lamar Bearden officiating. Music will be arranged by Phil Cross and Ronnie VanDyke. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include the following gentlemen, Thomas Ross, Swayze Johnson, Ronnie VanDyke, Seth VanDyke, Taylor Gallman and Brooks Gallman.
The family will receive friends Sunday beginning at 2:00 PM until the funeral hour of 3:00 PM.
It is suggested for those attending the visitation and service, that masks be worn, and social distancing guidelines be followed for your safety and the wellbeing of others.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Bonnie Whitfield Ross.
