Mr. Billy W. Lawhon, 78, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at WellStar Kennestone.

Mr. Lawhon was born on August 26, 1947, in East Point, Georgia. He was the son of the late William T. Lawhon Jr. and Juanita Bowles Lawhon.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having enlisted on June 21, 1966, and served as an Army artilleryman in Vietnam, and was highly disabled due to his service. During his life, he was deeply committed to his faith, attended Beulah Heights Bible College, served as a lay minister, Sunday school teacher, and chaplain, and was a member of Indian Springs Church of God.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Johnsie Grace McNeely Lawhon; one daughter, Ondrea G. Franz and her husband Eric; sons, Charles G (Gary) Lawhon and his wife Melanie, Willian (Alex) Lawhon and his wife Shanna

Grandchildren, Christopher Hensley and Chelsea, Lauren Thomas and Joshua, Alex Lawhon II and Kate, Abby Blair and Justice, Amy Franz and Orion, Rachael Bourland and Cody, Caleb Lawhon and Abby, and Emily Franz; Great grandchildren, Gracelyn Thomas, Josiah Thomas, AsherLuke Lawhon, Kyelin Blair, Oliver Hensley, Kaden Blair, and Norah Bourland; sisters, Denise Lawhon-Powers, and Charline Hayes and James.

A Military graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 13th, at 1:30 pm at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Alex Lawhon officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard.
