Mr. Charles F. (Bill) Hilley, age 86 of the Pine Chapel Community; Calhoun, Georgia; died Saturday afternoon, February 17, 2007 at Gordon Hospital following several months of declining health.
Mr. Hilley was born on December 21, 1920 in Gordon County; son of the late Joseph and Georgia Lee Elrod Hilley. He was also preceded in death by grandson; Lance Corporal Cody Warren; by sisters and brother; Madge Blackstock, Lucy Brown and Lester Hilley. During his lifetime; he served his country during World War II with the United States Air Force and following his service; he returned home where he was a farmer and egg breeder and later became a construction contractor. Mr. Hilley was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors are his wife; the former Margaret Louise Clark to whom he was married for 60 years. One daughter; Sheryl Hilley Bright and her husband; the late Billy Bright. Grandchildren; Robin Bright Patterson and her husband, Tim; and Charles Martin (Marty) Bright. Great grandchildren; Blake Warren, Ethan Warren and Dylan Patterson. One sister-in-law; Frances Baxter. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Charles F. (Bill) Hilley will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmie Timms and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Active pallbearers serving will include; Eddie Hilley, Anthony Hilley, Jason Hilley, Marty Bright, Blake Warren, Ethan Warren and Tim Patterson. Honorary pallbearers serving will include; Junior Brackett, Billy Faucet, Boyd Highfield,, Dale Brown and Art Downey. Burial will follow the service in the Fain Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Sunday evening after 5:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent and the guestbook may be signed at www.maxbrannonandsons.com.
