Obituary

Betty Joyce (Ray) Holden, 75, of Calhoun, Georgia died Friday, August 27, 2021, after three years of declining health. She was born on May 30, 1946, in Calhoun, Georgia to the late William and Lucy Coggins Ray. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Floyd Junior Holden; brothers, Charlie Ray, and Billy Ray; sisters, Carol Ann Cartwright, Linda Jane Barnes, and Barbara Jean Anderson.
Betty worked at Rays auto parts for 17 years and Walmart for 15 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her great grandchildren were the love of her life. She was born in Gordon County and was a resident in Cobb and Paulding County for many years before returning home.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James Louis (Karen) Holden; daughter and sons-in-law, Barbara Ann (Bill) Reed; brothers and sisters-in-law, EL (Ann) Ray and James Roy (Marty) Ray; sisters and brother-in-law, Jeanetta (Kenny) Faulkner and Marie Taylor; grandchildren, Courtney (Justin) Davis and Katelynn (Ronnie) Holden; great grandchildren, Rylee, Ethan, Savannah, and Paxton.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be conducted on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 1:30 pm from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Wells and Rev. Charles Holden officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are, Ronnie Pelham, Justin Davis, James Holden, Charlie Whitmire, Bill Reed, and Chad Ray. Honorary pallbearers, Ethan Davis and Paxton Lewis.
