Mrs. Betty Stamey Grogan, 91, of the Harris Beamer Road Community, Calhoun, Georgia, passed away September 16, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family following several months of declining health.

Betty was born in Gordon County on October 11, 1934, daughter of the late Carl and Ruby Stamey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Ray Grogan; sister, Edna Reece; sisters-in-law, Janie Grogan, Peggy Baldwin, Hannalore Grogan, Millie Whitfield; and brothers-in-law, Jim Reece, L.C. Grogan, Danny Baldwin, James Grogan, Dennis Whitfield and Rupert Grogan.

She had lived and worked in Gordon County the greater part of her life, having been employed by Dixie Bell. She owned and operated Ray's Grocery for more than 40 years, and enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She was well known in the community as a hard worker. She was a devoted woman of faith and a faithful member of her church at New Zion Baptist Church. Attending church was an important part of her life, and she cherished the fellowship, worship, and friendships she found there. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived and in the love, she showed to those around her.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa (Robert) Taylor; grandchildren, Keri Shaw (Matt Staples) and Eric (Kelli) Shaw; sisters-in-law Nancy (Jim) Luckett, and Sharon Grogan. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Stamey Grogan will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 3:00 PM at New Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Fouts officiating. Music will be arranged by Emma Grogan, Amos Winters, Terry Wright, and Amy Padgett. Her body will lie in state from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Friday at the church. 

Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery with Rev. Randy Fouts officiating.

Pallbearers serving will include Trey Goble, Austin Medders, Michael Brown, Jeremy Barnes, Terry Holden, Gregorio Cortes. Honorary pallbearers will include Bobby Cochran, Ronnie Cochran, Mike Reece, Tony Reece and members of the Georgia State Patrol.

The family will receive friends on Thursday September 17th 2026 at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM
